Hello everyone,

Our son, who has post-infectious bronchiolitis obliterans, was fed through a gastric tube during his hospitalization. Since he came home and the tube was removed (5 months after hospitalization), everything was going well, but gradually we have encountered difficulties:

  • frequent reflux, which seems to bother him during and after meals,
  • very slow weight gain, despite our efforts to get him to eat normally.

Before continuing our discussions with the medical team, I would very much like to gather the experience of other affected families:

  • Did you go through this same phase after the tube was removed?
  • Do you also have problems with weight gain?
  • What daily strategies worked for you (positions during and after meals, smaller frequent meals, textures, thickeners, meal times, nutritional supplements…)?
  • Did you benefit from specific follow-up (pediatric gastroenterologist, dietitian, speech-language pathologist for oral feeding) that made a real difference?
  • Which anti-reflux treatments were effective, or conversely disappointing, in your children?

Thank you in advance for sharing.
